Bengaluru All Set to Break Guinness World Record
Raksana, a mega awareness event unites 50,000+ children to join hands & fight against child abuse
Bengaluru, 5th October 2017: The city is soon to witness a monumental event wherein thousands of school children will join hands to symbolize their fight against child abuse. The mega awareness movement named as ‘Raksana’ is being organized to unite and stand for kids against any forms of physical and emotional abuse, neglect, child trafficking, discrimination, and child labour. It will be the largest child welfare summit being organized for the child protection against the abuses that children face in the forms from within the family, community, society and psychologically.
Since 2016 over 1,500 minors have been assaulted in the national Capital. According to National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), as many as 94,172 cases have been reported in 2016 across the country.
The spotlight of the event is that for the very first time, more than 50,000 school children will come together for their rights, safety and protection. Organized by VForce Media and marketed by Breathe Entertainment, the event will take place on 18th November, Saturday 2017, at Kittur Rani Chennamma Stadium, Jayanagar Bengaluru. Charity Partners for the event are Faith Foundation who are working towards creating awareness on child abuse and rights by conducting workshops on good touch and bad touch.
This would be an unprecedented event wherein school kids aged between 12 to 15 years across Bengaluru will assemble to form the largest human national flag. “The Guinness World Records” and “Limca Book of Records” are going to be there at the event to witness this spectacular social initiative.
Speaking about the event, Mr Saravana Kumar, Founder, VFORCE Media said, “We are attempting to set three Guinness & Limca book of records viz. largest human flag, largest students singing National Anthem and for the largest body percussion ensemble. The interlocked tiny hands will symbolize a beginning towards their safe and rightful future. No child should be left out as this is the moment of pride.
Renowned celebrities and experts on the subject such as Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi and regional celebrities such as Ragini Dewedi will be present at the event.
Highlighting the purpose of the event, Mr Kishore Joseph, Director, Breathe Entertainment said, “Raksana is not just an event, it’s a movement to protect children. The pre-event awareness campaign is aimed to empower kids with adequate knowledge about child rights. We abhor violence against children but it’s not enough to eradicate. As a society, we must break the cycle of silence and speak up for child rights. The sole objective is to make the society to work in tandem to create a world without child abuse, neglect, discrimination and trafficking. Raksana provides an unprecedented opportunity and a quintessential platform for children to voice out for their fundamental rights. ”
According to UNICEF violence against children can be “physical and mental abuse and injury, neglect or negligent treatment, exploitation and sexual abuse. Violence may take place in homes, schools, orphanages, residential care facilities, on the streets, in the workplace, in prisons and in places of detention.” Child Abuse Child Violence in India Such violence can affect the normal development of a child impairing their mental, physical and social being. In extreme cases abuse of a child can result in death.
Child abuse has many forms: physical, emotional, sexual, neglect, and exploitation. Any of these that are potentially or actually harmful to a child’s health, survival, dignity and development are abuse.
