Karnataka Industries Minister inaugurates state-of-the-art Mitsubishi Elevator factory at Vemgal near Bengaluru

Rs 183 crore facility will provide the company a competitive edge while catering to the Indian real estate market

Bengaluru, February 9, 2017: Honourable Minister of Medium & Large Industries and Infrastructure, Karnataka, Sri. R V Deshpande today inaugurated the state-of-the-art factory of Mitsubishi Elevator India Pvt Ltd at Vemgal in Kolar district near Bengaluru. The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Member of Parliament, Kolar, Sri H Muniyappa; Sri K R Ramesh Kumar, District Incharge Minister, Kolar and Minister for Health & Family Welfare; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India H. E. Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu; President & CEO of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation Mr. Masaki Sakuyama and Executive Vice President, Group CEO, Machinery Group of Mitsubishi Corporation Mr. Kazushi Okawa.

Mitsubishi Elevator India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Japan has set up the facility with an investment of Rs 183 crore. Spread over an area of 89,000 sqm, the facility with floor space of 25,400 sqm and manufacturing capacity of 5,000 units annually has the capability to expand production in the future. A Test tower and a field-training centre for installation and maintenance also form a part of this infrastructure.

The factory will manufacture the NEXIEZ-LITE brand of elevator, the latest contribution by Mitsubishi Electric to the Make in India initiative. By producing locally, Mitsubishi Elevator India expects to strengthen the product competitiveness in terms of lead time and catering to a larger section of builder segment, from low to mid rise buildings in the Indian market. Special emphasis will be placed on the efficient integration of sales, manufacturing, installation and maintenance.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Masaki Sakuyama President & CEO of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation said “We have sold over 10,000 units of elevators and escalators, since 1995 and being used by many customers in Information Technology industry, Residential buildings, Hotels, Shopping Malls, Hospitals, Educational Institutions amongst others in India.

Besides long history, Mitsubishi Electric recognises the importance of the Indian elevator market since it is second largest in the world, with steady growth prospects.  A Test tower and the dedicated field-training centre will enhance the education and the skills of installation and maintenance engineers”.

Mr. Iwao Oda, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Elevator India said “Mitsubishi quality levels are a benchmark in the elevator industry and this comes from the strong and stringent internal quality systems that have been adopted. Mitsubishi Elevator India has plans to grow sales volumes by strengthening its sales network across the country and by offering more products that fulfil local needs.

Incidentally, Mitsubishi Electric is proud to achieve three world records in Shanghai Tower, China: Fastest elevator [speed of 20.5 meter/second]; Tallest lift [with 578.55 M travel] and Fastest Double-deck elevator [speed of 10.0 meter/second]. These elevators use artificial-intelligence technologies, continue to receive high evaluations industry-wide.
