Racing towards the Formula Masters China Series 2013
Bangalore, April 2013: Meco Racing – International is a now a fully functional Racing Team taking part in the Formula Masters – Asia Series. The Team is spearheaded by Akbar Ebrahim, President of Meco Motorsports and mentor to almost every Indian Racing and Karting Driver.
Meco Racing has as part of its team, Patrick Roberts from the UK as its Chief Engineer and Team Manager assisted by a skilled team of mechanics from Asia. Patrick Roberts has a long history with India and has engineered Indian Racing drivers right from the late Mr S. Karivardhan of Lakshmi Mills and then on to Akbar Ebrahim, Narain Karhekeyan, Karun Chandhok and Armaan Ebrahim.
Meco Racing has on board, Raj Bharath who has been associated with Meco Motorsports since he started Karting 5 years back. Raj Bharath won the JK Tyre National Rotax Max Karting Championship in his 2nd year of Karting and then moved on to race in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship and followed it up by going International and racing in the JK Racing Asian Championship in the Formula BMW Class in 2011. In 2012, Raj raced for Meco Racing in the Formula Pilota Championship in Asia and took several podiums.
The Formula Pilota Asian Series has now become the Formula Masters Asian Series with VW playing an important role. VW have partnered the Series Promoter, Top Speed – China headed by Davide Gobi from Italy. VW will be supplying their German Formula 3 Engines which will replace the old Fiat Abharth engines used in the Pilota Car. The move is to provide a platform for young drivers to enhance their skills and then move on to the Asian GT Racing Championships such as the Porsche Cup, Audi Cup, Lamborghini Cup and the Sirocco Cup.
Meco Racing is also in current discussions with an Italian and a Brazilian driver who may join the Team.
Meco Racing is supported by JK Tyres, who have been the pioneers in developing Indian Motorsport and Indian Karting, Racing and Rally Drivers from across the Country. JK Tyres were the first to introduce Karting into India and were also the first to promote the JK Asia Racing Series held across Asia and Europe in the years 2011 and 2012 apart from running the JK Tyre National Racing Championship for over a decade. JK Tyres as of today run the JK Tyre National Rotax Max Karting Championship, JK Racing Series, Autocross and Dirt Cross Events and the National TSD Rally across India.

The Formula Masters Asia Series gets underway from the 10th May 2013 in Zuhai- China and the remaining rounds are as under. The Formula Masters will also run in the Macau GP as an Invitational Race.
