STUDENTS OF GOVERNMENT URDU MODEL SCHOOL DURING A RALLY TO  COMMEMORATE THE BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAULANA ABUL KALAM AZAD 

 MT NEWS, BANGALORE: National Education Day was celebrated in the Government Urdu Model School, Ilyasnagar, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, an eminent educationist and the first union minister of education of independent India. Hundreds of students accompanied by their teachers marched across the streets chanting slogans that encouraged education and condemned child labour.

The students stood in front of an agarbatti factory and subsequently a small scale industry which manufactured iron wares and chanted slogans discouraging child labour. Sirajunnisa, the Head Mistress of the school spoke to the factory owners and requested them to discourage any child who would come to their factory premises seeking employment.

Author, Educationist, Motivational Speaker and Environmentalist, US Moinuddin, who is also the SDMC President of the school said, “Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was a true Patriot, his contributions as a Journalist, Leader, Educationist, Philosopher are immense. Mahatma Gandhi used to refer him as a person of the caliber of Plato, Aristotle and Pythagoras.”

Across India, the 11th of November is celebrated as National Education Day.
