Republic Day celebration with a dash of colors and Street magic at Colorothon Season 4
Bangalore 26th January 2015: Bangalore south residents celebrated Republic Day with a dash of colors and street magic at the Nerolac Colorothon Season 4 painting extravaganza at MN Krishna Rao Park today. People from the age group of 8 to 80 and from all walks of life enthusiastically participated in this painting extravaganza.
A huge 10X10 Taj Mahal made of thermocol and a 15X10 graffiti wall was splashed with all kinds of colors and messages by the participants.
Chief guests R.V. Devaraj, MLA, Chickpet, B. Mallikarjun, Congress leader, Gangambike Mallikarjun , Corporator, and veteran actor Srinath interacted with the young participants.
According to the organizers, Breathe Entertainment, all participants were provided with necessaries like brush, colors, paper and drawing boards to draw out their imagination on a wide range of themes, in addition to certificates for participation. Given the size, scale and setting of Nerolac Colorothon Season 4, the participants are assured of their fifteen minutes of fame. There’s a good chance of the event gaining entry into the Guinness Book of Records and the Limca Book of Records, according to Ahmed Shareef.
Over 30 renowned artists from the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishad painted live and donated the same to charity Partner. All the paintings would be auctioned by the organizers to raise funds for Snehadeep Trust for the Disabled in addition to 300 best paintings from the others donated to them.
Buoyed by the huge response to the event, Kishore Joseph, the brain behind the event and director of Breathe Entertainment, and Ahmed Shareef, co-founder, said they plan to take the event to other districts of Karnataka and major metros in the country. “We hope the Culture Department and Tourism Department will respond positively to our request for funding our future events after seeing how the people of Bengaluru have responded to our call,” said Kishore Joseph.
“Events like these cost a huge amount of money to organize and our motive to host the Colorothon is not merely commercial. We want to use the medium of art to bring together people from all walks of life and all age groups on a platform which unifies rather than differentiates people,” he added.
.After their planned foray into cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata & Guwahati, Breathe Entertainment hopes to scale up the Colorothon extravaganza across all parts of the country. “Our vision is to see Indians from all over the country of all ages and all groups take to painting on a day which will be celebrated as Colorothon Day,” says Kishore.
Later, all the paintings were judged by well known artists and prizes awarded to the winners under five separate categories of age groups, viz. Up to 9 years; 10 to 12 years; 13 to 20 years; 21 to 30 years; and 30 years upwards.
