Sendhil Kumar; Unsung Saviour amidst Covid

Bengaluru 23rd May 2021. Here is an inspiring story to be told about an unsung hero Sendil Kumar from Areker Ward Bomanahalli Constituency , SK is not a Leader, Corporator, Businessman but a sincere hardcore volunteer, the Covid Warrior who lends his whole self to humanity, a true story to be revealed to the society what he is been rendering amidst Covid crisis.

Inspirational: Especially when you consider that truth to tell, he is a typical middle class type, like any of us. This is not like mandatory CSR, but voluntary ISR (individual social responsibility) ,this is what he believes in.

10 days ago while we lost a wonderful soul Ms. Suneela Hiremath, an employee of Omashram Trust Old Age Care due Covid at midnight, there were hardly people to respond to our call including officials as it was midnight ,there comes a positive response from Sendil Kumar who not only consoled but was available with his fellow volunteers to lift the soul (Dead Body) left all alone with her aged helpless mother who hails from rural background of north Karnataka, did not even know how to dial an emergency number to seek help.

In that state of deprived situation, SK and his team comes to help the old lady to handle the situation with full of compassion and a mind set to help the people who were literally helpless and broken with no clue as to do what next.
The situation was such that none of the neighbours could even come out and help that old lady in any manner possible as they were all scared of Covid virus spread, but nothing was stopping and bothering to Sendhil Kumar , he took complete control of the situation and did everything over phone and by sending his team right from coordinating with war room, health officer and getting a death declared certified to ambulance till the burial of the body.

All the service was rendered with great compassion as if it was done to their beloved ones , though we try to offer some money to him as a gratitude, he refused to take as his objective was to just serve the needy who was deprived.
Sindhil Kumar is also involved in rendering home isolation, giving counselling , supplying of essential items to those are home isolation and quarantine , testing of dead bodies with RAT kit also helping the non COVID people who are aged and left all alone apart from coordinating with BBMP officials get the disinfection drives done in and around Arkera Ward and surroundings.

It’s not easy – not easy at all – to get up every day, take care of someone you don’t know at all – and keep doing the same thing the day after day after day. And still wear a smile and gift a smile – in the midst of all the responsibilities and distractions of daily middle class life amidst Covid.

How does SK pull off this Houdini act? “What you do for your self will perish when you die, but what you do for others will live and remain as your legacy,” is his signature belief. Life is not about what you have or don’t have but about what you do with it, he says.

Truly, SK is one of a kind.

Wishing Sendhil Kumar and his entire team a good health and blessed future ahead
