A fund raising initiative for children with disabilities and their underserved peers by promoting responsible Dry Waste management

Bangalore, September 24, 2013: TE Connectivity, a world leader in connectors, inter connection systems and solutions, today announced “Bin It Bengaluru” in association with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, an NGO working towards the cause of disabled and underserved children. Samarthanam trust has collaborated with TE Connectivity as their title sponsor to support the campaign. This city wide initiative, under the “Joy of Giving” umbrella intends to raise funds for the education and livelihood of disabled and underprivileged children by organizing a dry waste collection & recycling drive from all major corporates.

The aim of the campaign is to reach out to corporates and create awareness about importance of responsible dry waste management. The collection drive will include all kinds of dry waste, including paper, plastics, e-waste and metal and will process the same in a hygienic and scientific way. The revenue generated will be contributed towards education and livelihood opportunities of people with disabilities and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Explaining the initiative Mr. Mahantesh Founder Managing Trustee Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled said that this year’s “Joy of Giving” celebrations are dedicated to creating education opportunities for children with disabilities and their peers from the underserved communities. This will be done through dry waste collection from corporates, segregation and recycling for revenue generation purposes. “We are grateful to TE Connectivity India for supporting us in this initiative and hope many more corporate would come forward and contribute to not only making the city greener but also towards increasing access to education and livelihood training for persons with disabilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raj Rajkumar, CSR champion, TE Connectivity India, said, “We are delighted to be associated with Samarthanam Trust for this initiative. With this initiative we hope many corporates will join hands with us to serve this dual cause of making city greener and use the revenue generated from this drive to fund education and livelihood of disabled and underprivileged children.
