Curtain raiser press conference being orgonised at Press Club Coimbotore, the meet was chaired by Smt. Geeta Shankar, Founder Managing Trustee, Omashram Trust- Old Age Care, Mayakrishnana, Trustee Kathirvel Nagammal Trust, Coonoor, Kishore Joseph, PR Director, Omashram & Ananath Arumugam Event Director.

Coonoor Hill Walker is scheduled on 27th April,2014 Starting from Nonsuch Estate to Glendale village, of Coonoor, Ooty,Tamil Nadu

How Many of us has ever tried to walk for a cause? Could we ever imagine walking a few miles can change somebody’s life? Most of the NGO’s ask for the money for various causes they are working for, but here is a event asking only a few miles to walk. One of the rare event standing for a selfless deed is here to happen in Coonoor near Ooty.

So, Come Join us for a Walk To Remember for and Change another Life for the Better. . . .

Some of the salient features of Coonoor Hillwalker:

• · Situated on the Blue Mountains of Western Ghats of India, the Hillwalker- Trail is spectacularly greenish endowed with lush evergreen forests, tea gardens, scenic view points, seasonal waterfalls and hamlets of Toda, Irula and Kurumba tribes.
• · Start Point, Reporting Centers and Finish line for participants to register their entry and exit, take rest and get medical support, if needed.
• · Event Crew and Volunteers supporting the walkers by helping them with food, water & emergency needs at appropriate times.
• · Family and friends of the walkers, meeting the teams at Reporting Centers and cheering the walkers.

More About Coonoor HillWalker:

Coonoor Hillwalker is a Global Charity Walk organized to raise support for the education of tribal children and to build a permanent Old Age Home for the abandoned elderly.

This event is jointly organized by Kathirvel Nagammal Trust, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, India & Omashram Trust- Old Age Care, Bangalore, Karnataka, India.

Coonoor Hillwalker is a Dream Walk with a Promise as the participating teams promise themselves to raise funds to help realize the dreams of the less fortunate sections of the society. When teams, with two members each, promise to walk 20 km within 6 hours, the WALK could also be a team sport along with being an exercise of the mind as well as igniting a spark of passion and spirits into the causes being supported…“Walking the Talk” The Walk among the mountains which is equivalent of prayers, would become a memorable one!!

About Omshram Trust

OmAshram Trust – Old Age Care is a registered charitable    trust founded in the year 2001 with the objective of   providing care and succor to the helpless elderly irrespective    of caste and creed

The trust is now in the 13th Year of its existence with over  300+ beneficiaries

Omashram provides residential care with full boarding &  lodging facility also medical care, nursing care to the old,  belonging mostly to poor & middle class individuals (above    55 years of age) of all denominations

At present the facility is housed in 3 separate rented premises all located nearby Bilekahalli, Bangalore

Now blessed with 60 old residents being loved & cared

Objective – To serve the elderly in the evening of their lives   & make their sunset rosy and beautiful

 Vision – To acquire a permanent residential premise for the   beneficiaries

Kathirvel Nagammal Trust is a registered, voluntary, non-profit    social service organization

provides educational support to poor children of Repatriates, Tribal Children from  the –Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu  and also Children of disabled parents, widows  &  destitute women , Masonry workers, Construction  labourers, Carpenters, Plumbers, Fruit  Vendors, Tea Estate labourers  in Coonoor, Ooty, Kotagiri,Masinagudi and Gudalur.
