WOMEN’S DAY CELEBERATION @ GFGC, K.R.PURAM, BANGALORE

Bengaluru : March 2021. The International Women’s day was observed with a grand celebration on 8th of March 2021 in the premises of the Government First Grade College, KR Puram, Bengaluru from 11:00 a.m. onwards till noon.

The theme of the Women’s day celebration was to nurture awareness about the equal status and dignity of women in the society and in college particularly. All the students, teaching and non-teaching staff took part on the program. Nearly 300 girl students and entire women staffs were part of this event. Students offered roses to all the women staff and greeted them with great regard and prominence

The event was organised by the Women Empowerment Cell of the college lead by the Convener, Shri.Vijayalakshmi. C, Asst. Prof. Department of Commerce and Management. The other members of the committee, pitched in with their support and cooperation to make the Program a great success. It was presided by Dr TC Chandrashekhar Principal, GFGC, KR Puram, Bangalore.

The guest of honour for this event was Dr Rekha Raju, Expert panel member Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The Guest gave an inspiring speech on the need to empower omen in all walks of life. She stressed that it is not just the looks of women that matter but the entire outlook marked by self-confidence, and courage is what matters. She keptthe entire audience lively and blissful through her recitation of impromptu jingle and a few mohiniyattam danseuses. This was Followed by felicitation of the Chief Guest by the Women Cell coordinator, Principal and other dignitaries on the dais.

As a mark of respect and admiration for the contributions of women staff to the students and college, the gents staff presented Book marks to all the women staff of college with personalized portrait printed with a beautiful message on it. The Chief Guest obliged to distribute them personally to all the staff. The function also witnessed Speech by local women police officer regarding the law, order, and security concerns to the women students. Information regarding the counselling services to the women victim at the police stations across Bengaluru City was provided by the women and child welfare department.

Adding glamour to the function, one of the student sang a song on women written personally by her for women. In the end a brief speech on relevance of “Women’s day” was given by the Principal. Although the official function was wound by noon, the teaching and non-teaching faculty of the college enjoyed rest of the day by playing various games and sports. The recreation was followed by snacks and tea for refreshments.  This celebration indeed brought fun, happiness, entertainment and a sense of unity among all the staff members.
